Frequently asked questions
What is NEOW?
NEOW is developing offshore production of e-fuels: wind energy from the oceans' trade winds, hydrogen from seawater and carbon captured from the air, combined into liquid fuels that today's engines already run on.
What is an e-fuel?
A synthetic hydrocarbon made from hydrogen and captured CO₂ instead of crude oil. It is chemically a drop-in replacement for kerosene, diesel or petrol and works in existing engines, pipelines and ships.
Why produce at sea?
The trade winds are the steadiest wind resource on the planet, far from any grid. Producing where the energy is avoids transmission lines and turns cheap offshore energy directly into a fuel that can be stored and shipped anywhere.
Is the fuel carbon neutral?
Every carbon atom in the fuel was captured from the atmosphere first, so burning it returns what was taken out. The energy comes from wind. NEOW's goal is a closed carbon loop rather than new fossil emissions.
Who are the first customers?
Business aviation. Private jets have no electric or hydrogen alternative for decades, face the most scrutiny, and fuel is a small share of their trip cost. From there the path leads to commercial airlines, then shipping, then road.
Where does NEOW stand today?
NEOW is in early-stage development. The site, the merchandise and the investor material exist to build the company that brings the first production unit to sea. Figures on this page are study assumptions unless a source is given.
